To Do List Font Review

It was a Tuesday morning, and the team was finalizing a seasonal sale graphic for a small online shop. The client wanted something playful yet professional, something that could catch attention without being too overwhelming. We had a few fonts in mind, but after testing a few options, To Do List stood out. Its cute handwritten style felt just right for the campaign's tone.

Visual Style and Personality

To Do List is a handwritten font with a soft, friendly vibe. It has a slightly uneven baseline, which gives it an organic feel, as if someone wrote it by hand. The letterforms are simple but expressive, with subtle flourishes that add charm without being distracting. This makes it ideal for campaigns targeting a younger, creative audience or brands looking to convey approachability and warmth.

The font works well in both light and dark backgrounds, maintaining legibility while still standing out. Its personality leans toward casual and fun, making it less suitable for formal corporate messaging but perfect for social media, digital ads, and content marketing.

Campaign Use Cases

During a recent YouTube thumbnail design, we used To Do List for the title of a video about productivity hacks. The font added a personal touch that aligned with the video’s theme. It worked especially well when paired with bold, contrasting colors and simple icons, creating a clear visual hierarchy without cluttering the frame.

We also tested it on Instagram posts for a branded template pack. The font made the text pop against minimal backgrounds, helping to draw attention to key messages like “Limited Time Offer” or “New Arrivals.” It was particularly effective in carousel posts where each slide needed to communicate a different aspect of the product without overwhelming the viewer.

Readability and Digital Visibility

On mobile screens, To Do List holds up reasonably well, especially when used in larger sizes. However, it’s not the best choice for tiny text or dense paragraphs. For headlines, callouts, or short phrases, it shines. When used in thumbnails or image overlays, it benefits from high contrast and ample spacing to ensure clarity.

For dark backgrounds, the font maintains good visibility, but on light backgrounds, it can sometimes feel a bit too soft. Adjusting the weight or pairing it with a bolder font can help balance the look.

Best Uses in Campaigns

To Do List excels in situations where a personal, creative touch is needed. It’s great for short headlines, social media captions, promotional banners, and logo-style text. It can also be used effectively in display typography for event announcements, course launches, or limited edition product teasers.

However, it’s not the best fit for long-form content, such as blog posts, email newsletters, or detailed product descriptions. In those cases, a clean sans serif or serif font would provide better readability and structure.

Font Pairing and Design Integration

When working with To Do List, it’s helpful to pair it with a complementary typeface. A modern sans serif like Montserrat or Poppins can provide contrast and balance, making the design feel more polished. For a more traditional look, a serif font like Lora or Merriweather can add elegance while keeping the overall aesthetic cohesive.

Since To Do List is part of the Script Amp collection, it’s worth checking the full range for additional styles and alternates. These variations can help create more dynamic layouts and prevent repetition in multi-platform campaigns.

Practical Considerations

Before using To Do List in any campaign, make sure to review the file formats, weights, and multilingual support. It’s important to confirm that the font includes all necessary glyphs and ligatures, especially if the campaign will be used in multiple languages or regions.

Also, check the licensing terms to ensure it’s suitable for commercial use, whether for ads, merchandise, or client projects. Some fonts have restrictions on resale or modification, so understanding these details is crucial for avoiding legal issues down the line.
